About the Project When the
Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) needed to make a radical
change to its operational performance, it relied on Amtec, and partners
Sequena, to work with its staff to draw out the very best solution.
The Approach Amtec/Sequena ran a
series of innovative workshops, getting people from across the IPCC 'in
the room' and providing the right conditions for them to discuss,
explore and capture new ideas. This meant allaying fears, allowing people to
contribute and ensuring the best possible dialogue.
The Outcome As a result of the
project, the IPCC now has a credible business plan for improving processes
and managing resources, with cost savings for 2010/11 projected at 10%. The
highlight of the project was the complete turnaround in the ability of the
IPCC to conduct truly independent investigations in all cases where they
were needed.
Ultimately this work has helped to increase confidence in the police
complaints system of England and Wales.
| "We needed to improve the way we delivered our services to
make them more efficient and effective for our customers. The result of any
change needed to be value for money, sustainable and contribute to the overall
purpose of the IPCC to improve public confidence in the police complaints
system. I am convinced that this is exactly what Amtec and Sequena have
achieved. They have helped IPCC staff to continue making improvements in a time
of increasing pressure on resources and budgets." Jane Furniss, IPCC Chief Executive | ||||||
