The Security Industry Authority (SIA) became operational during
2003. Door supervisors and wheel-clampers on private land are amongst the
operators that SIA licenses under its remit to regulate and oversee the private
security industry in England and Wales. The SIA aims to raise the profile of the
industry and make it a profession to be proud of. AMTEC's consultancy team supported the SIA with business process
consultancy, development of a fully functioning programme office, strategic
change and transition planning consultancy, as well as technical and business
systems advice. | A key part of the development involved cross government liaison
with organisations, including DVLA, Police and Local Authorities, in order to
determine the processes of roll-out and compliance of such a service. A large number of licensing applications were anticipated, and the
SIA recognised the implications for business process and work practice design.
From the outline strategies, AMTEC's specialists assisted the programme team in
detailing the required business processes and procedures, defining the roll-out
and transition approach, and supporting IT procurement competition and
implementation. | ||||||
