AMTEC Consulting has contributed to a new paper, published by Intellect's
Document Management Group, which highlights an issue that impacts all
organisations, regardless of sector, market or size. 'Document
management concerns the whole board - a guide for all directors' has
been written to help senior executives to understand and come to terms with the
information-heavy future that organisations everywhere are facing. "We have received
excellent feedback from senior executives in both the public and commercial
sectors", says AMTEC's Malcolm Beach, who helped to launch the paper at
an Intellect reception in November. AMTEC Consulting supports clients in gaining
productivity and efficiency benefits through the exploitation of information and
knowledge, and was one of a handful of Intellect's 800 member organisations to
work on the new paper. According to the paper, an organization of 1000 staff will waste an average
£2.6m a year in time spent looking for information. In only four years the same
organization could be holding about ten times as much information as it does
today. The majority of corporate information is not really managed as an asset
at all. Businesses need to consider how to cope with an information heavy future
and how to use information to their own competitive advantage. 'Document Management Concerns the Whole Board' deals with
the strategic business reasons of why managing information is so important, and
combines the knowledge and experience of leading industry experts. It shows how
to understand the business issues associated with what it newly describes as
'Information Management Deficiency Syndrome', how to spot the
symptoms in your own organisation and how to strategically address these for the
good of the organisation. It is aimed at all board-level professionals,
particularly those in non-ICT roles. Intellect members can view a digital version of the paper or download a pdf
from the Intellect
website. Non-members can receive a copy of the paper by sending their name,
organization and address by email
